ABOUT

HELLO

I’M CLAIRE ELLERY

After graduating from the University of Sydney in 1995, I jumped straight into my first year of practice at The Royal North Shore Hospital. This set me up with a broad range of experience and knowledge which I continued to build during my public hospital work in Newcastle and Cessnock. By this stage, I had built considerable experience in musculoskeletal, orthopaedic, rehabilitation and community physiotherapy. I returned to Sydney when life took a turn, and have thoroughly enjoyed private practice work since then, including a special time working with my mother Gemma at Gemma Brown Physiotherapy, then with the team at Padstow Physiotherapy and Sports Injury Centre, and also in partnership with my valued colleague and friend John Luong at SWA Physio.

I take every opportunity to engage in regular professional development, by taking courses and webinars and  keeping up to date with research and reading. In 2017 I expanded my clinical practice to include women’s pelvic floor physiotherapy and have continued to pursue further development in this field. I started trading as Claire Ellery Physiotherapy in December 2020, which enables me to happily meet both the needs of my clients as well as my family and life outside of work.

My interests include

Family and friends

Drinking coffee

Visiting the beach

Going to the gym

I believe people achieve their best results when they feel empowered and we can work together to enable that

I care about meeting each client where they are at and finding all the ways to help them achieve their goals. This often means that the treatment options and advice I give will vary, as no two people are exactly the same. I love to help people keep moving across their lifespan and feel confident as they do what they want to do in life. I believe people achieve their best results when they feel empowered and we can work together to enable that.

I feel that listening is equally as important as advising. I aim to be as practical as possible in my recommendations and seek out solutions that are manageable for my clients. I have been told I have “the mum approach” as I aim to be realistic and practical in my advice to my clients.

I am a registered physiotherapist and maintain my annual registration requirements with AHPRA. I also belong to the Australian Physiotherapy Association.
